TIMS Solar Systems - Solar Contractors
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics converts light into electric current using the photoelectric effect.
Each of these two forms of solar energy requires the manufacture of two seperate types of solar panels. One is called a "solar collector" which is used to heat water and then store it in a tank for distribution when needed. The other kind of panel is called a "solar panel", or more formally, a "photovoltaic panel". Solar panels collect the light radiation from the Sun and convert it into direct current electricty, which can then be converted to alternating current using an inverter.
